I get what the presenter is trying to say, but why would there be multiple application families based on licence types? Surely the point of having a field like Application Family is to group all similar applications under a single “family”? Also, why are some fields like Application Family not available in some of the reports, e.g. Yearly Stats per application? I’m having to bust data out into Excel, Python, etc for manipulations and I feel that I should be able to do all that directly within the Snow platform.

The question is about manually input and the answer is about "objects" what the hell... ??? But objects are nice, What is the purpose of these objects and what is at least one useful example of them? Totally confused after this video ;-(

@@SnowSoftwareAB this unfortunately does not answer the question, why objects are explained as an answer to "Importing Manual Scan to Software License Management (SLM)". I would rather expect to see the offline scan capability of the Snow Agent as described in the SIAW6_UserGuide_WindowsAgent.pdf.
@@academysolmera6962 Thanks for your feedback and giving us the opportunity to clarify further: The suggestion of creating a new object type for this scenario was provided so that the added assets could be easily identified by their own unique object type after import / manual creation. The video shows how you can create your own object types and objects for this purpose should you wish to. Other example use cases for creating new object types and objects might be to store projectors, monitors, or other company assets that are not already populated in your Snow database. More information in our product guides (docs.snowsoftware.com/snow-license-manager/en/UUID-a3018202-72fc-a04e-d908-5812e5fc3f2d.html). As shown in the video you can manually create or import objects, then if required, associate them with existing computers or users. Using a monitor custom object as our example it is feasible that you may want to associate that with the computer it’s used with. As an alternative approach the instructions for using an offline scan (as mentioned in a comment above) can be found in our product guides here (docs.snowsoftware.com/snow-atlas/en/UUID-aabbf5e6-8613-bbac-5407-2f9fac24c594.html). What is the point of the TV screen when you can't see the text?
Jelle, Kelly, familiar faces! Have been missing you guys. Hope you're well :) Great advice here, Kelly. One note though, you mention device-based products and then talk about users accessing the software in one of the first sentences. In my experience with Microsoft, that could be misleading for someone not familiar with licensing metrics. As you know well, and demonstrate later in the video, Microsoft will want to see DEVICE counts, and device controls. On the other hand, I had a positive experience using SNOW data to prove to Microsoft that the number of devices accessing software in a rolling period haven't gone over the number of licences. I got one question..if one license sharing in many its obvious the license owner know that licence has been shared and saving money by bot purchasing licence as per the requirement..so if you know he is doing this.how you gonna correct this?
